Description:

EMDB: Efficient Movie & TV Cataloging for Windows Collectors

EMDB is a lightweight Windows application for cataloging movies and TV shows that prioritizes speed, reliable metadata retrieval and flexible export options. Favored by collectors and home archivists, EMDB pulls detailed information—titles, release year, cast, plot summaries and cover art—from online sources while keeping your database local and searchable.

Core Features and What’s New

Automated metadata lookup and cover image fetch with manual editing for accuracy

Custom fields for format, location, loan status, personal ratings and playback progress

Advanced search, filters and sorting to navigate large collections quickly

Reporting and statistics to visualize distribution by genre, rating and release period

Improved stability and convenience with the built-in AutoUpdater in the latest package

Import, Export and HTML Templates

EMDB excels at exporting catalogs as web-ready HTML. It includes a default HTML template and supports user-created templates and JavaScript-based exports for highly customized pages. Multiple thumbnail sets and alternative images let you control the visual presentation of exported catalogs.

Skins, Icons and Community Extras

Official download bundle now includes several skins and full translations for multilingual use

User-created skins (Modern, Black Bookshelf, minimalistic themes) and alternative icon sets are available to change the look and feel

Multiple community HTML export templates offer varied layouts and scripting options — from simple grids to JavaScript-enhanced displays

Separate downloadable thumbnail and icon packs let you swap visuals without altering your database

Performance, Usability and Maintenance

EMDB’s small footprint makes it fast to install and run on most Windows systems. The interface is straightforward for quick data entry, bulk imports and editing. Regular updates and an integrated AutoUpdater streamline maintenance, while the availability of translated interfaces helps international users.

Customization and Advanced Use

HTML export templates are fully customizable—developers can add JavaScript for dynamic pages and create templates to match personal websites

Skins and icon packs are installed by unzipping to the skins folder, while templates go in the templates folder for easy swapping

Flexible export options (HTML, printable lists) make EMDB suitable for both personal archives and shared catalogs

Who Benefits Most from EMDB

Collectors who require detailed tracking (format, edition, loan status, storage location)

Users who prefer local databases with automated metadata but the ability to correct entries manually

People who want clean, publishable HTML exports or bespoke templates for displaying collections online
